History tells us that America does best when the private sector is energetic and entrepreneurial and the government is attentive and engaged. Who among us, really, would, looking back, wish to edit out either sphere at the entire expense of the other? — Jon Meacham 32 items · 3 sections

MemPilot: Orchestrating On-Demand Multimodal Memory Curation for LLM Agents

Haozhen Zhang, Haodong Yue, Quanyu Long, Jianzhu Bao, Qingyuan Liu

emPilot is a flexible framework that optimizes LLM agent memory by orchestrating on-demand, multimodal memory curation. It uses a reinforcement-learned policy to dynamically decide between retrieving from pre-built memory or performing query-specific curation using various LLMs and VLMs, balancing performance, cost, and latency. This allows for more efficient and adaptable memory management for LLM agents.

Overview of MemPilot. (a) The orchestrator iteratively retrieves compressed memories or delegates query-specific curation of raw multimodal histories to heterogeneous LLMs/VLMs. Factorized controls govern evidence retrieval, curation strategy, visual access, and model selection, with accumulated evidence guiding subsequent decisions and final answering. (b) Objective-wise advantage decoupling enables controllable trade-offs among quality, cost, and latency, while prefix-based answer probing estimates each step’s marginal utility for fine-grained credit assignment.

Overview of our three research questions. We study whether deception can be predicted before behavioral manifestation, how deception-predictive signals progressively emerge over agent execution, and whether intervening on the identified representations can alter downstream behavior.

Before Agent Tells The Lie: Has Deception Already Been Represented?

Xinling Li, Dadi Guo et al.

This paper proposes a novel method to predict LLM agent deception by analyzing their internal hidden states *before* deceptive actions occur. The core contribution is demonstrating that these internal representations, when aligned around key decision points, c…

LoGRA: Scaling LLM Reinforcement Learning with Low-Rank Gradient Sketches

Shaokun Zhang, Yifan Zhang et al.

LoGRA addresses the memory bottleneck in LLM reinforcement learning by compressing gradient information into low-rank sketches, significantly reducing memory usage. This method, combined with predicted-KL step control to manage update magnitudes, enables stabl…

Comparison of LLM adversarial attacks. (a) Prompt manipulation attacks rely on computationally expensive iterative refinement for specific query. (b) Contrastive decoding attacks depend on logit contrasts between strictly matched safe and unsafe model pairs. (c) Reward Stealing Attack recovers the latent safety reward from an aligned LLM to derive a universal adversarial signal.

Reward Stealing Attack on Large Language Models

Jiaming Qian, Pengyang Zhou et al.

This paper introduces Reward Stealing Attack (ReSA), a novel method to attack Large Language Models (LLMs) by targeting their internal safety reward signals. ReSA recovers a proxy reward model from the LLM's behavior and then reverses it to generate adversaria…

BazaarBench: Delegation Safety in Decentralized C2C Marketplaces Run by LLM Agents

Ziyan Wang, Shuqing Shi et al.

This paper introduces BazaarBench, a simulated decentralized C2C marketplace designed to evaluate the safety of LLM agents acting on behalf of users. BazaarBench tracks transaction integrity and uses a combination of record checks and LLM judgments to identify…

Overview of BazaarBench. The left panel illustrates a marketplace interaction, including optional inspection. The right panels show market construction, an agent’s actions within one two-hour tick, the checks and LLM judge used for evaluation, the six failure types, and the base markets and their L1–L3 continuations.
